You’re Invited: June 10th Tele-Town Hall with Senator Tina Smith

5 min readJun 8, 2026

Dear Friend,

This week, I voted to pass a War Powers Resolution to stop the Trump Administration’s unauthorized use of force in Iran. For nearly 100 days, this administration has been conducting military strikes with no clear end in sight — and the cost of this war has been devastating. Over a dozen American servicemembers, including Minnesotan Sergeant First Class Nicole M. Amor, and thousands of Iranian civilians have lost their lives. Minnesotans have made it clear that they want no part in this reckless war. I’m proud to have joined the effort to get this resolution passed in the House and urge our Senators to do the same.

Join Me For My June Tele Town Hall with U.S. Senator Tina Smith

Senator Tina Smith and I are hosting a tele-town hall on Wednesday, June 10th at 6pm CT. Together, we’ll provide an update on our work at the federal level to hold the Trump administration accountable and lower costs for Minnesota families. We will share the casework services our offices can provide and answer your questions.

Hosting My May Town Hall in South Minneapolis

Thank you to everyone who came out to our May town hall meeting in South Minneapolis last week! I want to extend a special thank you to Edina Mayor James Hovland, Minnesota State Representative Jamie Long, and Minneapolis City Council Member Linea Palmisano for joining me to share updates on their work at the local and state level. Conversations like these allow me to hear your priorities firsthand and take them straight back to our work in Washington. Looking forward to our next one!

Visiting Senior Residents at Lyndale Manor

When our seniors can’t make it out to our town halls, we bring the conversation to them! I joined Minneapolis City Council Member Pearll Warren for a visit to Lyndale Manor, a senior living facility in North Minneapolis. We shared updates on our work to protect and expand Social Security and heard directly from senior residents about their top concerns.

Gathering the Fifth District’s Incredible AANHPI Leaders

It was incredible to gather AANHPI leaders from across our district at Eat Street Crossing in honor of Asian American, North Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. These community leaders are doing amazing work to strengthen our North Star State!

Hearing from my Youth Advisory Council

My Youth Advisory Council just wrapped up their year-long program where they worked with my staff to identify key issues that impact youth in our community. Last Tuesday, they presented their findings to me. It was incredible to hear their thoughtful solutions and thank them for their hard work on behalf of our Fifth District communities.

Recognizing Charlene Vazquez for 34 Years of Work as an Educator

It was my honor to present Charlene Vazquez from Pillsbury Early Education Center with a Congressional Record recognizing her 34 years of service as an educator. She has inspired generations of young children to become lifelong learners and engaged citizens. I wish her the best as she moves on to her well-earned retirement!

Honoring the Bravery of Students and Staff at Roosevelt High School

I’m incredibly proud to recognize the courage and love the students and staff at Roosevelt Elementary School showed for their community by standing up to ICE during “Operation Metro Surge” through a Congressional Record. They showed the world what it means to be Minnesota strong!

Demanding an End to the United States’ Complicity in Israel’s War in Lebanon

Israel’s war in Lebanon has killed thousands of civilians and displaced over a million, and the United States is complicit in this horrific devastation. I spoke on the House Floor to urge my colleagues to support Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib’s Lebanon War Powers Resolution to end U.S. participation in this conflict. Congress must refuse to enable another forever war.

You can watch a video of my remarks here.

Working with Labor Leaders to Strengthen Workers’ Protections

This week, I met with labor leaders from the Air Line Pilots Association, the Communication Workers of America, and the Amalgamated Transit Union to discuss ways we can ensure workers across industries are guaranteed the protections and support they need.

Read My Op-Ed in the Guardian

This week, I authored an op-ed in the Guardian rebuking conservatives’ false attacks against me and addressing the fraud that occurred in Minnesota. Trump’s policies do nothing to root out fraud, corruption, or address it in any real way. Instead, this administration’s policies have awarded and enriched some of America’s most brazen financial criminals. The hypocrisy is outstanding.
