Dear friend,

I came to Congress on a promise of cogovernance. As your Congresswoman, I do not only want to represent Minnesotans, I want to govern with you. This Tuesday, I’m holding another in-person outdoor town hall at 5:30pm CT. I’m excited to discuss what’s happening in Congress and answer your questions. You can sign-up for details here.

Fighting to Stop Line 3

Last week, I led a delegation to the Line 3 pipeline in Northern Minnesota. Line 3 would pump some of the dirtiest fossil fuels, polluting our state and violating tribal treaty rights. As our state battles extreme drought and wildfires, the last thing we should do is build more fossil fuel infrastructure. Last week, I led a letter to President Biden to call for urgent intervention amidst the pipeline construction. You can read more here and watch my video recap of the delegation visit here.

Helping Afghans Find Refuge

My office has been working around the clock to help as many Afghans as possible. As a refugee, I know finding a stable home is a matter of life or death. That’s why my office has fought to give other families the same opportunity to come to the United States and rebuild their lives. Right now, we are working directly with thirty-seven constituents and district organizations to help over five hundred people. We will continue to fight to increase the refugee admissions cap and ensure America lives up to its ideals.

Ending Taxpayer Subsidies to Fossil-fuel Companies

It’s time to end taxpayer subsidies to fossil-fuel companies. Taxpayers provide $15 billion in direct federal subsidies to the fossil fuel industry every year. I wrote a letter asking House leadership to repeal these harmful and wasteful subsidies in the Build Back Better Act. You can hear more here.

In service,

Ilhan Omar
