Rep. Ilhan Omar’s US-Africa Policy Working Group Meeting with Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Phee

Today, Rep. Omar hosted a briefing with Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Phee for the US-Africa Policy Working Group. Assistant Secretary Phee briefed Members on her recent visit to Niger, the growing conflict in the Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, the upcoming Senegalese elections, diplomatic developments in the Horn of Africa, human rights, and the Biden Administration’s commitment to improving food security and independence on the continent. The group also discussed appropriations and legislative priorities related to Africa for the 118th Congress.
