Dear friend,

This week, we welcomed First Lady Jill Biden to Minnesota to highlight the American Rescue Plan’s investments in childcare. Because of this bill, Minnesota received over $500 million in additional support for childcare. This investment moves us one step closer to a future where all working families can thrive. You can watch the roundtable here.

Leading Letters to Lower Gas and Electric Bills

This week, we wrote letters to the Presidents of CenterPoint Energy and Xcel Energy asking about the rate increases and the impact it will have for people across our state. Minnesotans are already grappling with historic inflation and should not have to pay even higher gas and electric bills while shareholder profits continue to increase. You can read more here.

Asking for Further Investigation Regarding Reports of Fraudulent Misuse of Funds by Non-Profit

Yesterday, I wrote a letter to Agriculture Secretary Vilsack asking for information and further investigation regarding reports of fraudulent misuse of funds by a non-profit intended to help feed children. Using the guise of feeding kids to funnel millions of dollars toward extravagant expenses is abhorrent. You can read more here.

Calling for Diplomacy in Response to Russia’s Aggression

Last week, I released a statement in response to the proposed Ukraine defense bill. I am committed to doing everything I can to support diplomacy and peace on behalf of my constituents, especially Ukrainian Americans and those with families in Ukraine, but I cannot in good conscience support a bill that places militarism and economic warfare over the urgent needs of both Ukrainian and Russian civilians. You can read more here.

Reexamining Sanctions Policy in Somalia

Today, I wrote a letter to the Biden Administration regarding the current ambiguous sanctions on Somalia, their utility and removal process. You can read more here.
