December 2021: Working to Make School Meals Universal
Dear friend,
I want to thank you for your support and words of encouragement in the wake of Rep. Lauren Boebert’s anti-Muslim remarks. These alarming attacks are not just personal — they are against Muslims across the country. To confront anti-Muslim hatred, we must hold those who perpetuate it accountable — to show that we are truly a democracy that respects freedom of religion. We know Islamophobia is on the rise both here at home and around the world. That’s why I introduced legislation requiring the State Department to create a Special Envoy for monitoring and combating Islamophobia, including state sponsored Islamophobic violence and impunity in the Department’s annual human rights reports. Together, we will not accept bigotry and hate in our political discourse.
