August 2022: The Inflation Reduction Act Signed into Law

Last week, the House passed the Inflation Reduction Act. This legislation was signed into law by President Joe Biden. The Inflation Reduction Act will create an estimated 10,000 additional jobs for Minnesotans and drive over $6.6 billion of investment to our state. It is the most historic climate bill in U.S. history, reducing carbon emissions by roughly 40 percent by 2030. It strengthens IRS enforcement against wealthy tax evaders, averts a benefits cliff by extending health care subsidies for 3 years, and allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices. Delivering $3 Million to American Indian Center in South Minneapolis

Earlier this month, I had the opportunity to deliver a $3 million check to one of our community project recipients, the American Indian Center in South Minneapolis. The project funding will renovate and expand the current MAIC facility, creating health, wellness, youth-programs and more. You can read more here.

Providing Life-Saving Care to Veterans Exposed to Toxic Burn Pits

Last week, President Biden signed the PACT Act into law. This legislation will ensure veterans who suffered from toxic exposure have access to the benefits and healthcare they deserve. I was proud to be a cosponsor of this critical legislation in the House. You can watch my speech here.
