Putting an End to Gun Violence

Enough is enough. In the wake of more horrific mass shootings in Uvalde and Buffalo, at long last Congress needs to take action to end gun violence. Ilhan is a vocal proponent of real solutions to the epidemic of gun violence. She helped pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021, which would require universal background checks on anyone purchasing a gun. She also cosponsored legislation to ban assault weapons and has advocated for “red flag laws” to enable close family members or law enforcement to ask a judge to block access to firearms.

Working for Families

As a mother of four, Ilhan is horrified that families are being forced to ration baby formula because of the nationwide shortage. Thankfully help is on the way. President Biden recently used the Defense Production Act to accelerate production of baby formula. Ilhan also helped pass two bills in the House of Representatives to fund and address the shortage. She even worked with the Biden Administration in requesting a full investigation into consolidation and anticompetitive practices in the formula industry. The Administration listened — launching a Federal Trade Commission investigation at the end of May.

Fighting to Protect Roe v. Wade

Controlling decisions about your own body is a basic human right. Repealing Roe v. Wade would be a blow to anyone who believes there are limits to how much the government can control the decisions we make in our private lives. That’s why Ilhan voted to codify Roe v. Wade into law across the country. She also believes we need to look seriously at term limits, ethics rules, and reforming the Supreme Court so that it truly reflects the will of the people.

Fighting Price Gouging and Climate Change

Inflation is affecting all of us. Big oil’s profits are at record highs, yet families can barely afford a gallon of gas. Ilhan has been taking the fight to corporate polluters — supporting legislation to crack down on pr ice gouging at the pump. She also wrote the Presidents of CenterPoint Energy & Xcel Energy asking about the rate increases & the impact it will have for Minnesotans. Minnesotans are already grappling with historic inflation and should not have to pay even higher gas and electric bills.

Listening to You

Ilhan has held nearly three dozen town halls since taking office. In 2020, she was awarded the Profile in Courage Award from the Town Hall Project for being regularly engaged with her constituents, even in the face of threats against her life. Our team has also worked on over 1,600 constituent cases. Whether you’re having difficulties with Medicare, Social Security, the VA, Immigration, or anyother federal agency, please contact Ilhan’s office at (612) 333–1272.
