Yesterday, we passed the Equality Act in the House. This passage will move us one step closer to a future where every LGBTQ person can live their lives free from the fear of discrimination. I am proud to be an original co-sponsor of the legislation.
Tonight, we are voting on the new COVID relief package to provide much needed relief to Minnesotans and Americans across the country. This bill will provide essential relief to Minnesota, including $281 million for the Minneapolis metro and $4.722 billion in relief for Minnesota. It will also include direct checks to families, expanded…
I came to Congress on a promise of co-governance. As your Congresswoman, I do not only want to represent Minnesotans — I want to govern with you. Last week, we had a jam packed week in the district and I wanted to share some of the highlights with you.
I hosted my first Congressional “Coffee and Kulan” community conversation on cannabis legalization with Rep. Barbara Lee and MN House Majority Leader, Ryan Winkler. We discussed our plans on both the state and federal level to implement restorative justice practices and end the war on drugs. …
Our state hit a milestone of getting 1 million Minnesotans vaccinated. As hard as this time has been for all of us, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I’m so grateful for our essential workers who have gone above and beyond to serve our community. We will get through this crisis together.
I’ve been fighting to ensure the next COVID-19 package prioritizes the needs of our community. As we get closer to a final package, I encourage you to reach out to my office to share your concerns with me. …
Happy Lunar New Year to everyone celebrating! I wish you and your family a joyful year.
As the pandemic continues, we must stay vigilant. In Minnesota, testing is free and easy to access. This is an important step to keep our community and loved ones safe. You can view testing sites here.

As we begin Black History Month, I want to take a moment to reflect on how grateful I am to have incredible Black leaders in our community. This week, we started a new chapter in America. President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris will build back a better world for all Americans. I can’t wait to work with the Biden-Harris administration to implement meaningful change for the 5th District and Americans across the country. We will have the opportunity to carry out the most progressive agenda our country has ever seen. This is our chance to create the America I dreamed about as a refugee — a country where anything is possible.
President Biden within hours of taking the oath of…
Thank you again to all of you who have reached out to my office expressing your support and concern for our safety. Whether you were at the Capitol or watching on television, the events from Wednesday were deeply disturbing. Stress reactions are normal and even expected following exposure to a traumatic event. If you are feeling anxious or distressed — know you are not alone. In Minnesota, the Department of Health has free resources available to all Minnesotans. You can call 1–888–626–4435 for support or text “MN” to the crisis line at 741741.
Today, I gave remarks on the floor of the House of Representatives on why I will vote to impeach President Trump.
You can view my full remarks below:
“Let us not mince words about what happened last week: it was a violent attempt to interrupt our democratic process.
“It was a targeted blow at the most essential process that makes us a democracy. And it was directly and specifically incited by the President of the United States.
“For years, we have been asked to turn a blind eye to the criminality, corruption, and blatant disregard for the rule of…
Thank you to those that have been reaching out to see if my team and I are okay from the attempted coup at the Capitol. Thankfully my team and I are all safe. What happened was unmistakable — it was a violent attempt to interrupt our democratic process. This was a targeted blow at the most essential process that makes us a democracy.
Donald Trump remains the single greatest threat to our democracy. This is why I introduced articles of impeachment so that he cannot threaten our democracy and the world any longer or hold public office ever…
